Quality Construction

The new concert hall will become a LEED building (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), thus promoting sustainable choices in terms of the quality of interior environments and environmental site management. To achieve this certification, the hall must meet specific criteria under six major categories:

  • Environmental Management of the site with a particular focus on erosion control, rainwater management and light pollution reduction
  • Efficient Water Management in terms of efficient water use and wastewater treatment
  • Energy and Atmosphere in terms of everything concerning the energy efficiency of buildings, protection of the ozone layer and use of renewable energy
  • Materials and Resources managed efficiently in terms of recyclable materials and building waste as well as the use of recycled or quickly renewable materials
  • Quality of Interior Environments, concerning particularly carbon dioxide gas control, ambient air quality management during and after construction, use of low-volatile organic compound emission materials, thermal comfort and natural lighting
  • Innovation and Design Process aimed at innovation and involving the services of a LEED-certified professional retained for the project

The new home of the OSM will also be certified under the ASHRAE standard (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers), which sets air quality requirements for ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems and quality requirements for lighting fixtures.
