Situation

At the heart of Montréal’s cultural district

The future home of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal is being built on the eastern esplanade of Place des Arts, at the corner of Maisonneuve Boulevard and Saint-Urbain Street.

This world-class concert hall will complete the Place des Arts square more than 45 years after Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier was inaugurated in 1963.

Located at the heart of Quartier des spectacles, Place des Arts includes five halls for a total seating capacity of 6,000. This venue is host to a wide range of artistic performances throughout the year, including dance, theatre, opera, classic music, jazz, popular music, comedy and circus. Aside from the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Place des Arts is home to the Jean Duceppe theatre company, the Opéra de Montréal and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal.

On the western esplanade stands the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal.

All around the square, outdoor grounds like the Parterre (green open space) and Place du Quartier des spectacles are the site of events for the public at large, where one festival follows another all year long.

Quartier des spectacles is Montréal’s cultural hub, where as many as 80 venues featuring 30 performing arts centres and close to 28,000 seats are crowded on a single square kilometre. With a large number of worksites currently under progress, Quartier des spectacles is undergoing full revitalization. Without any doubt, L’Adresse symphonique will be the masterpiece of Montréal’s new cultural scene.
